Basin Styles, Colors & Specs.

     Here are some photos showing the two basic styles and three colors of basins that we have available at this time.  All combinations of basin style and colors may not be shown here.  Click a photo to see a larger image.

VFB (V-shaped Fountain Bowl) - Available in 10" and 12" diameters.  Recommended slate sizes would be 7-8" for the 10" bowl and 8-9" for the 12" bowl.

CFB (Curved Fountain Bowl) - Available in 9", 10" and 12" diameters.  Because of the curved sides, the actual opening diameter is smaller than the overall size.  Recommended slate sizes would be 5-6" for the 9" bowl, 6-7" for the 10" bowl, and 8-9" for the 12" bowl.

9" Black CFB	10" Pearl Gray CFB (special order color)	12" Hunter Green CFB

RFB (Rimmed Fountain Bowl) - Available in 10", 12" and 14" diameters.  Opening diameter about 1.5" less than outside diameter.  Recommended slate sizes would be 6-7" for the 10" bowl, 8-9" for the 12" bowl, and 10-11" for the 14" bowl.  Stoneware.  Currently available only in the Gray-gold glaze.

12" Gray-Gold RFB

     These bowls are all hand-thrown so you must expect some variation in both size and shape.  All of our sizes are approximate.  
     Most CFB bowls are approximately 3.25" deep (inside) and have a large enough flat bottom on the inside to accommodate a center support piece.  Some of the smaller bowls are less than 3.25" deep and a low center support is available for those bowls.  Both the low and the regular center support are the same price and we will make sure you get the right one if ordered at the same time as the bowl.  
     Most VFB bowls are approximately 3" deep (inside) because we find it more esthetically pleasing if the lowest level of slate is slightly higher than the height of the bowl.
     The 10" RFB bowls are usually about 3" deep (inside), the 14" RFB bowls are usually about 3.25" deep, and the 12" can fall anywhere within that range (3" to 3.25".)  The regular 3" center support will work fine for the 14" size bowl.  The low center support will work well in the 10" bowl.  If you order a 12" bowl, you may order either center support with it and we will make sure the bowl and center support match.
     Bowls may be porcelain or stoneware.  This does have some effect on the color, but not on durability or watertightness.  All of our bowls are impervious.  They will not leak or seep.
