East Pacific Beach Sloth

The East Pacific Beach Sloth feeds in tide pools during very low tides.  They move so slowly that Sea Grass grows on their backs.  This one was spotted in a pool near the north end of Neahkahnie Beach.  Strange things happen in the shadow of Neahkahnie Mt., home of the god Kah Nie according to Nehalem Indian lore.

Here the East Pacific Beach Sloth exhibits possible mating behavior.  It is believed that the EPBS is quite nearsighted, but even with excellent vision, amorous relations with a grass covered rock would be an understandable mistake. 

Alas, rebuffed.
